Since 1977, the Residency Training Center has launched its program by residency training program with the educational, research and treatment aims to provide required
specialist for the mental health network of the country.This center has been renamed to Tehran Institute of Psychiatry, TPI, under management of Tehran Health District. In
1986, TPI include in Iran University of Medical Science’s, which has been introduced by merging of three medical training centers. Performing national and international
and meeting the criteria, the TPI has been elected as World Health Organization Collaborating Center in Mental Health in 1997. This accreditation has been continued for
four periods hitherto.This institute has been recognized as a Center of Excellency in psychiatry and psychology training in 2001 by Educational Deputy of Ministry of Health
Education.For the last improvement in the history, TPI has been changed to School of Behavioral Sciences and Mental Health by Educational Deputy of Ministry of Health and Education.
